In line with its 109th year of existence, Bulacan State University (BulSU) kicked-off its week-long festivities December 2 at the BulSU Activity Center.
With the theme, “Transcending Boundaries through Quality Education,” the opening program was graced by the Director of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) III, Dr. Severino C. Santos.
In his speech before the BulSUan crowd, Santos has stated his appreciation on the efforts of the administration to address and find solutions to solve the university’s few problems, though there are times when it is being stalled by several government rules.

“I am happy to inform that Pres. Maning and his management team has the knack to find ways and means to address those problems,” said Santos. “Although sometimes, there are limitations opposed by existing government rules and regulations.”
On the other hand, three colleges were the hosts of the week-long celebration, specifically the colleges of Business Administration (CBA), Nursing (CON) and Home Economics (CHE) – the same college who sponsored the Christmas tree-like tower of treats composed of over 200 cupcakes with four cakes at the bottom.
Before the program ended, the university administration along with Dr. Santos, shared a toast along with the slicing of the cakes. Freeing of the white doves was also done by both Dr. De Jesus and Dr. Santos, as the faculty released the 109 balloons to signify the university’s 109 years of existence.
Various events and activities spearheaded by different colleges and organizations were lined-up for the whole week, including food exhibits, creativity and souvenir booths, film viewing activities, APO Oblation Run, BulSU Promising Pop Superstar, car shows and many more.
BulSU began as an intermediary academy in 1904 in accord to ACT 74 of the Philippine Commission, 1901.
