Despite the slightly rainy weather, DILG Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas was awarded by Bulacan Governor Willy Sy-Alvarado and Vice Governor Daniel Fernando the utmost recognition being given to excellent people who have their roots hailing from Bulacan, the “Tanging Dangal ng Lipi.”
The secretary, who is the great grandson of Don Seferino Buencamino de Leon of San Miguel, Bulacan, stepped down the platform to show his “sincerity” to the public, saying that he has to get rained on together with his audience.
“Para po isabuhay ang aking pagsama sa inyo sa ating laban ay bababa po ako para sabay tayong uulanin.”
Roxas stated that he, along with the current administration is “very sincere” in fighting poverty and corruption.
“Kasama po ninyo ako sa ating laban,” said Roxas. “Laban sa kahirapan, laban sa kawalan ng pagkakataon, laban tungo sa magandang kinabukasan.”
He added that the genuine battle against corruption and poverty is a daily fight, and that everyone must take action.
Under the theme “Makulay na Sining at Kalinangan: Bulacan, Ipagmalaki at Ikarangal,” a parade of floats introducing Bulacan’s success in arts, music, sports, beauty pageants and especially the specialties and contributions from the different towns have graced the capitol, along with street dancers.
Singkaban 2013 also paved way for exhibits and fairs promoting the province’s products and delicacies. Also introduced were the newly-opened Bulacan Pasalubong Center and Bulacan Packaging Service and Toll Packing Center, which aims to sell and exhibit products and delicacies made in Bulacan.
The Bulacan Food Festival Exposition (BUFFEX) was also being held and will be during the entire week of Singkaban, assembling the different sectors engaged in food production in the province.
The Singkaban Fiesta this year, also known as the mother of all fiestas, ended on September 15 in Barasoain Church together with the anniversary of the opening of Malolos Congress.
